Classes

Classes is the class workspace in the teacher app. Go to /teacher/classes to manage rosters, subjects, Learning Outcomes, student records, shared materials, progress, and saved AI analyses.

What You Can Do

The Classes List

The + New class button opens a creation modal: name the class and, optionally, tick the subjects you teach it — the same subject list as the class's Subjects tab, changeable later. The new class opens on its Overview tab.

The list has a filter box and a Date / A-Z sort. Clicking a card opens the class; the card's ... menu holds Archive and Delete.

• Archiving is for classes you no longer teach: the class keeps every student and record but moves out of the default list and out of class selection in the AI tools. Once anything is archived, an Active / Archived select appears in the toolbar — switch it to find archived classes and Unarchive them from the same menu. An archived class is read-only: it opens and reads exactly as before, but nothing in it changes — adding students, grades, records, materials or subjects, and building or starting an activity for it, all wait until you unarchive.
• Colors — every class card carries a colored square. A color is assigned automatically; hover the square and click it to pick a different one from a palette of twelve. Subjects work the same way on the Subjects tab, and a subject's color then marks it wherever it appears on a student's records. Organization teachers see the color but cannot change it.

Class Tabs

Each class opens into a tabbed workspace:

Rename a class by clicking its name in the class header. Organization teachers cannot create, rename, or delete classes, and the Subjects and Share tabs are admin-managed, so they do not appear for them.

Overview and Analyses

Overview opens first when you enter a class. Its progress view reads the records already saved in the class and does not use an AI request.

Progress has four scopes, and you move between them by clicking the table itself. With several classes selected, subjects run down the rows and students run across the columns, grouped under their classes; each cell is that student's average in the row subject. Open one class to see students as rows and grades as columns. Open a student to see subjects as rows, with that student's grades ordered from newest to oldest across each row. Open a grade to see exercises, grading areas and the final grade as rows, with students across the columns.

The top-left cell shows where you are and takes you back: the current step opens a dropdown for the classes or students in view, and the earlier steps walk back out. Above the results, a subject filter and a time range (last 3 months, 6 months, a year, all time, or a custom range) narrow the current scope. Table view keeps the individual records visible; Graph view reads the same filtered grades as performance comparisons or trends alongside a score distribution. Flowee reads this same calculated Progress view when answering questions about class performance.

Click any grade to edit it. A cell holds one student's percentage; the name and subject belong to the whole grade, so you change those from the ... menu beside the top-left cell when a grade is open on its own. Edit grade there is the same form you used to add it — name, subject, and the whole class with a percentage each — so one pass renames the grade, moves its subject, corrects results and fills in anyone left blank. Leaving a student blank keeps the grade they already have. The same menu deletes a grade for every student at once, and renaming one renames the graded test it came from. In the single-grade view the final grade row is the one you edit; exercise and grading-area scores come from the saved graded test and are changed there. A grade that came from a graded test says so under its name, with a link that opens the record itself in a new tab — the feedback and note badges on the cell open the same record when you click them — saving your change updates that record, and deleting the grade deletes the test with it, photos and feedback included.

The grade editor also carries that grade's private teacher note. For a grade that came from a graded test the note is the test's — the same one on its record below — so there is one note wherever you write it. A grade you typed in keeps its own, and the grid is the only place it appears.

Below Progress, Class records is the home for something that belongs to the whole class. Add shared feedback about how the class did, or keep a standalone private teacher note. Feedback can carry its own attached private note too. Filter this list by subject, record type, date, name, and sort order; each row expands and can be edited or deleted. Organization teachers work within their assigned subjects. Organization admins see the class feedback in a redacted read-only view and do not see private notes or authorship.

In the Analyses tab, + New analysis opens a form for four analysis types:

• Individual student performance — choose one student and optionally narrow the evidence by subject
• Whole-class performance — look for shared patterns, differences, trends, and learning gaps across the class
• Specific graded test — analyze every filed result from one saved whole-class Test grader run
• Specific activity — analyze the class result, student submissions, or both filed for one activity

You can add optional instructions before generating. An analysis uses one AI request and is saved as a dated record, written as sections: a summary, strengths, what needs attention, any notable patterns, what it may mean, and possible next steps. Expand a row to read it; its creator can edit any section, add or remove points, rename or delete it, download it as a PDF, and keep a separate Private note (only you can see). The private note is never sent to the AI, shown to anybody else, or included in the PDF.

Filters above the history narrow saved analyses by type, subject, and generation date. Creating an analysis is based on a bounded number of the newest matching records rather than the history filter's date range, and each record keeps its real date in the evidence. A whole-class analysis combines recent Class records with a balanced sample of relevant student records; individual, graded-test, and activity analyses stay within their selected scope. Active Learning Outcomes for the selected scope are included automatically.

Individual teachers and organization teachers see the analyses they created. Organization admins see all analyses saved for the organization and may generate their own using the organization's shared AI-request pool. An admin can read a teacher-created analysis but cannot edit, rename, delete, or see its private note.

Student Records

Click a student to see their whole record in one place. At the top, Progress groups the student's grades into subject rows, with the newest matching grade first in each row. The graph view shows the same filtered grades as subject trends and a score distribution. Graded-test feedback and teacher notes appear inside the matching grade cell. Below it, everything saved for them:

• Feedback saved from Assessment generator
• Graded tests saved from Test grader — shown exactly as in the Test grader (photos, exercise breakdown, grading areas, grade and points, feedback) and editable in place; the grade in Progress is read from this record, so editing it here changes what Progress shows, and deleting the record takes its grade out of Progress too
• Activity results
• Teacher notes with a required title and optional subject, plus notes attached to feedback, grades, graded tests, and activity results
• Manual grades
• Shared materials where available

A subject filter above the list narrows the records. Progress keeps its own subject filter, so narrowing one never moves the other.

Each record row shows its type, actual title, subject when present, and date. Collapsed rows share the same short faded preview; click a row or its caret to expand it. Open the three-dot menu for actions such as adding a teacher note, editing, downloading, or deleting.

Feedback, teacher notes, graded tests, activities, and grades can be used as context when generating future assessments. A teacher note belongs to the teacher who writes it and stays hidden from students, organization admins, and other teachers. When student history is enabled, the AI uses the requesting teacher's notes as private background context without intentionally quoting or exposing them in student-facing output.

Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes are saved once in a teacher or organization library, then assigned to classes and subjects. Individual teachers manage their library from Account settings > Personalization > Learning outcomes. Organization admins manage the organization library from the Learning Outcomes page in the org navigation.

Inside a class, the Learning Outcomes tab shows the outcomes assigned to that class. You can create a new outcome directly there, import an existing saved outcome, choose the subject scope, and activate or pause each assignment.

A subject can have one active outcome of each type: Teacher goal, School curriculum, and National curriculum. Active outcomes are used automatically by Assessment generator, Lesson planner, Test grader, and activity notes when the selected class and subject match. Inactive outcomes stay saved and can be activated again later.

Organization teachers can view the active outcomes for the classes and subjects they can access, but organization admins manage the organization outcome library and assignments.

Sharing

The Share tab has two parts:

• Study Materials — link folders or materials from your Teaching Materials library so students in the class can open them in their Student Portal. Use the three-dot menu on any item to set its visibility: folders are Invisible or Accessible; materials are Invisible, Read only, or Editable (editable works for both documents and canvases). Items inside a linked folder are listed individually so each one's visibility can be set on its own.
• Student Portal access — generate a secure link for each student so they can open their own Student Portal without an account. Set an expiry date when you generate the link; share it by copy or email; renew it when it expires; revoke it any time.

Export

The Export tab produces downloadable documents for the class:

• Gradebook — every student's grades as a table with a per-student average, for one subject or all subjects, as CSV or PDF.
• Feedback — every student's written feedback in one document, all feedback or a single name, as PDF or DOCX.
• Student report — a full record per student (grades, feedback, and graded tests), all students or just one, as PDF or DOCX.
• Analysis — any saved analysis from this class as a PDF. Private notes are never included.

Organization Teachers

Organization teachers can view assigned classes and only the subjects their admin has granted. They cannot create, rename, delete, or modify classes or students. They can still use assigned classes in teacher workflows where their permissions allow it.

Teaching With It

Classes are the memory of the whole app: everything that comes back — graded tests, student and whole-class feedback, activity results, grades — lands here, and everything that generates reads from here through Learning Outcomes and the relevant class and student record context.
