Assessment generator
Assessment generator creates personalized formative assessments using student history, Learning Outcomes, your context, and your saved AI personalization settings.
How to Generate an Assessment
- Go to Assessment generator (
/teacher/assessment-generator) - Choose Individual student or Whole class
- Select the assessment form, output language, age range, and (optionally) subject
- Optionally select a student or class. Tick Analyse this student’s/class’s records for context and continuity to create a fresh saved analysis and use it in this generation; feedback-oriented results can also be saved to the selected records
- Write the instructions and context describing what to assess
- Click Generate new assessment
- Refine the assessment through chat if needed, or edit it directly in the result (it's a live editor)
- Save feedback-oriented results to the student or class, or export any result as DOCX/PDF
Active Learning Outcomes for the selected class and subject are applied automatically — there is no separate step to include them.
Record-aware generation uses two AI requests together: one for the fresh performance analysis and one for the assessment. The analysis is saved in the class Overview. If the analysis cannot be created, neither request is spent. If the analysis succeeds but assessment generation fails, the saved analysis remains and only the assessment request is refunded.
Assessment Forms
There are 12 forms split into two broad categories:

Use feedback-oriented forms when you want teacher-facing or student-facing feedback. Use structured forms when you want something the student will complete.
Chat Refinement
After generating, the assessment chat lets you request changes such as:
- Shorter or longer output
- Easier or harder language
- A different tone
- More examples
- A version for a specific student need
Chat history is saved in the sidebar. Messages sent to the AI use requests.
Saving Feedback
The save action appears for Written feedback, Observation, Bullet point summary, and Goal setting. With Individual student, the result saves to the selected student's profile. With Whole class, the same result saves to every student in the selected class. Structured student tasks stay in assessment history and remain available for editing and export. The generated assessment is a live editor — edit it directly, then export it as DOCX or PDF from its toolbar. Saved feedback appears in student progress history and can be used as context for future generation.
Personalization
Assessment generator uses:
- Default requirements from Account settings -> Personalization -> Assessment generator
- Document sources connected there: Google Docs and uploaded .docx files
- A fresh student or whole-class analysis from the matching saved records when a target is selected and record analysis is enabled
- Active Learning Outcomes for the selected class and subject
- Your teaching profile and the current instructions and context
Teaching With It
This is the heart of the formative routine: with a student selected and history enabled, each generation builds on what that student actually did — see Formative assessment. The self-assessment, reflection questions, and goal setting forms carry a student reflection routine (Student self-reflection), and generated assessments open in the materials editor, so the good ones can be saved to your library and reused (From generation to the classroom).
