Assessment generator
Assessment generator creates personalized formative assessments using student history, Learning Outcomes, your context, and your saved AI personalization settings.
How to Generate an Assessment
- Go to Assessment generator (
/teacher/assessment-generator) - Choose Individual student or Whole group
- Select the assessment form, output language, age range, and (optionally) subject
- Optionally select a student or group so the assessment can be saved to them, and so a student's history can be used as context
- Write the instructions and context describing what to assess
- Click Generate new assessment
- Refine the assessment through chat if needed, or edit it directly in the result (it's a live editor)
- Save it to the student or group, or export it as DOCX/PDF
Active Learning Outcomes for the selected group and subject are applied automatically — there is no separate step to include them.
Assessment Forms
There are 12 forms split into two broad categories:

Use feedback-oriented forms when you want teacher-facing or student-facing feedback. Use structured forms when you want something the student will complete.
Chat Refinement
After generating, the assessment chat lets you request changes such as:
- Shorter or longer output
- Easier or harder language
- A different tone
- More examples
- A version for a specific student need
Chat history is saved in the sidebar. Messages sent to the AI use requests.
Saving Assessments
When a student is selected, you can save the assessment to that student's profile. When Whole group is selected with a group, it saves to all students in the group. The generated assessment is a live editor — edit it directly, then export it as DOCX or PDF from its toolbar. Saved assessments appear in student progress history and can be used as context for future generation.
Personalization
Assessment generator uses:
- Default requirements from Account settings -> Personalization -> Assessment generator
- Document sources connected there: Google Docs and uploaded .docx files
- Student assessment history when a student is selected and history is enabled
- Active Learning Outcomes for the selected group and subject
- Your teaching profile and the current instructions and context
Teaching With It
This is the heart of the formative routine: with a student selected and history enabled, each generation builds on what that student actually did — see Formative assessment. The self-assessment, reflection questions, and goal setting forms carry a student reflection routine (Student self-reflection), and generated assessments open in the materials editor, so the good ones can be saved to your library and reused (From generation to the classroom).
