Organization billing
Organization billing is managed from Billing (/org/billing). The page is titled Billing & subscription and lets admins set the organization's resource limits and see the resulting monthly cost.
How organization pricing works
Organization pricing is usage-based and billed monthly. Admins set three limits with sliders, and the page shows a live monthly estimate built from fixed per-unit rates:
- Students — $0.10 per student / month
- Teachers — $2.00 per teacher seat (linked email) / month
- Requests — $10.00 per 1,000 shared AI requests / month
A Monthly estimate card breaks down each line and the total. The public pricing page describes the organization plan as scalable "pay only for what you use" pricing without publishing the per-unit rates; the exact rates appear inside the Billing page once an admin starts configuring limits.
Configuring limits
The slider section is labeled Configure your limits before a subscription is active, and Adjust your limits once it is active. Each slider has a matching number input, so values can be typed directly. The limits are:
- Students — total students across all organization groups
- Teachers — teacher seats (linked emails)
- Requests — AI requests shared across all teachers
Saving changes
Use Save limits to save new limits (only enabled when there are unsaved changes). While a subscription is active, a note states that saved changes take effect at the next billing cycle.
Current usage
When the subscription is active, a summary grid shows the current monthly charge alongside usage cards for Students used, Teachers linked, and Requests used, each against its configured limit.
Subscription status
A status banner at the top of the page reflects the current state:
- Subscription active — shows the next billing date.
- Subscription canceling — set to cancel at the end of the period; access continues until then.
- Payment failed (past due) — the organization's access is suspended until the payment method is updated.
- Subscription canceled — the subscription has ended and must be reactivated to restore access.
An active organization subscription is required for organization teachers to sign in. If billing is past due or canceled, teacher access is suspended until billing is restored. In all cases, organization data remains intact.
Checkout, portal, and canceling
- Activate Subscription (shown as Reactivate Subscription after a cancellation or suspension) starts Stripe checkout.
- Manage billing / invoices opens the Stripe billing portal for active subscribers to update payment details or view invoices.
- Cancel subscription schedules the subscription to end at the end of the current billing period. Organization teachers lose access after it ends, while data remains intact.
